ALGODON WINE ESTATES CONCLUDES 2ND ANNUAL BONARDA WEEK FESTIVAL IN SAN RAFAEL, MENDOZA, ARGENTINA

NEW YORK, NY – (November 8, 2013): Scott Mathis, Chairman & Founder of Algodon Wines & Luxury Development Group, today announced the conclusion of Algodon Wine Estates’ 2nd Annual Bonarda Week, a festival honoring Argentina’s Bonarda varietal, the country's second most planted and important red grape after Malbec.  The festival commenced on November 1, with food & wine events celebrated throughout the week at the luxury boutique hotel Algodon Mansion in Buenos Aires, and Algodon Wine Estates in San Rafael, Mendoza. The weeklong celebration finishes on November 9, with a grand party to be held at Algodon Wine Estates.

“Mirroring the success of its predecessor the Argentine Malbec, Argentine Bonarda is now capturing the attention of wine connoisseurs and consumers around the world”, says Mathis. “Argentina winemakers have identified and unlocked Bonarda’s high-end winemaking potential. It is perhaps the only country doing this, virtually eliminating any competition from other world-wine centers. Algodon is on a quest to create the best Bonarda in the world, and I firmly believe that we are well on our way in doing so.  However, I must admit there are many other wineries in Argentina that are also creating some spectacular Bonardas.  Argentina has cornered the Bonarda market, without a doubt.”

Festivities at this year’s Bonarda Week included special wine tastings and pairing menus prepared by Executive Chef Gaston Langlois (accompanied by guest Chef Fernando Umar) at Algodon Wine Estates’ Chez Gaston Restaurant, and Hernan Griccini (accompanied by guest Chefs Darío Gualtieri and Fernando Hara) at Algodon Mansion’s restaurant, the Algodon Club.
